Brighter with Herbert — “Every SpaceX Investor Needs To Watch This”. Facts on this page cite the primary sources below, not the video.

Why this video, why now

SpaceX reports Q3 results after the close on Tuesday, Oct 20, with a live audio-only webcast at 3:30 p.m. CT. Brighter with Herbert's "Every SpaceX Investor Needs To Watch This" (about an hour, uploaded Oct 8) is built around one idea: the AI compute that SpaceX rents out is the part of the business investors are still sizing up. The host and his guest argue that SpaceX can stand up a gigawatt-scale AI data center in about five months while rivals need two to four years, and that Anthropic pays a premium for that speed.

What the filings and the call say

  • Anthropic agreed to pay SpaceX $1.25B a month through May 2029, about $15B a year, per the S-1 (The Verge, Bloomberg). Either side can end the deal on 90 days notice.
  • Google's deal is about $920M a month for 32 months, starting in October 2026 (Yahoo Finance). One report says Google can walk or pay less if SpaceX misses agreed capacity.
  • On the Aug 4 Q2 call, SpaceX said it ended June with 1.4 GW of nameplate compute (1 GW in Q1, 400 MW a year earlier) and expects over 2 GW by the end of 2026.
  • Musk said on that call the goal is closer to 10 GW of compute online by the end of 2027, and that power and cooling targets are higher.
  • The CFO said new compute spending is paying back in under a year, that $6.7B more cloud revenue was contracted in early Q3, and that SpaceX is on a trajectory to reach a $100B annualized revenue run rate by the end of 2026, based on December revenue.
  • Q2 AI segment revenue was $2.56B, up 247% from a year earlier. Capital spending was $18.4B in the quarter, $15.8B of it on AI infrastructure.

What the video adds (the host's view)

  • Chapters cover a "mini hard" data center built in about five months, a path to a $500B revenue run rate in 2027, and a $1,119 price target at 30x earnings. Those are the host's models, not company guidance and not ours.
  • NextBigFuture (Oct 2026) also reports SpaceX finishing data centers in about five months, citing ARK for a cost near $32.6B per GW against an industry average near $52B. The filing-based figure is Colossus 2 at $2.7M per MW, per PitchBook.

The calendar to hold

  • Tue Oct 20, after the close: SpaceX Q3 results and audio-only webcast.
  • Thu Oct 22: the larger lock-up batch of up to about 1.3B shares becomes eligible, using Motley Fool's second-full-trading-day rule applied to the confirmed Oct 20 report. SpaceX has not separately named Oct 22.
  • Sat Oct 24: a separate batch of up to 328.4M shares.
  • Dec 8: a batch of up to 797.6M after the close.
  • December: a reported third compute customer at about $1.11B a month is due to start (Goldman, via Crypto Briefing, Oct 10). SpaceX has not named the customer.

What to look for in the Q3 report

  • AI segment revenue against Q2's $2.56B, and how much of it is Anthropic and Google.
  • Nameplate compute against the 1.4 GW Q2 figure and the over-2 GW year-end target.
  • Capital spending against the $18.4B Q2 level, and any update on the reported $40B Nvidia chip financing, which SpaceX has not confirmed.
  • Any update on the $100B run-rate target.

Bottom line

The Anthropic and Google contract figures, the 1.4 GW and 2 GW numbers, and the $100B run-rate goal all come from SpaceX's filings or its own call. The five-month build time, the $500B 2027 run rate, the $1,119 target, and the claim that SpaceX will hold more compute than Google, Meta or Microsoft by December are the video's or its sources' views and are not confirmed by SpaceX. Rental deals that can be cancelled on 90 days notice are revenue, but not locked-in revenue.

Video note

"Every SpaceX Investor Needs To Watch This" (Brighter with Herbert) is commentary. The numbers above follow SpaceX's filings and call, not the video.
